EPS06 (PIEZO GASOLINE INJECTORS STANDALONE DRIVER)
6 channels gasoline piezo injectors driver, to use with ECUs other than the Advance and Commander ECUs series. The injectors command tension is dynamically tuneable to adapt to the needs of the injectors to drive.
The EPS06 driver owns 6 piezo electric injectors channels. It must not be used with Advance and Commander ECUs series, but with other types of ECUs (for Advance and Commander ECU types, do use EPz06 driver).
This driver is to be used for gasoline piezo direct injection.
GENERAL OPERATION
EPS06 is a driver specifically dedicated to the command of piezo electric gasoline injectors.
It provides the high tension needed for injectors opening thanks to a switching mode power supply located in its housing.
Unlike most of its competitors, it is designed to allow injection covering of a channel on the other one (between cylinders).
CARE OF USE
A capacitor of strong capacity being integrated into the switching mode power supply, the high tension can remain much later the complete switch off of the driver:
• It is forbidden to open the housing.
• It is forbidden to manipulate the driver or the connections of its loom within the 3 minutes following its complete switch off.
The strong power delivered in case of extensive use (high engine rpm and important number of injections by engine cycle, high tension of injectors) provokes a strong rise of the internal temperature. The housing of the driver being used to dissipate this temperature, it can reach temperatures higher than 100 °C.
CHARACTERISTICS
• 6 channels of injectors commands
• Inputs commands by the ground, 1 KOhm pull-up resistor to +12V After Key integrated into the driver.
• Response time: 2 µs
• Injection covering of a channel on the other one (between cylinders) allowed
• Maximal power delivered to injectors for the peak current: 36 watts
• Average maximum number of injections for all channels cumulated : 42360 injections/mn (14120 t/mn – 6 cylinders – 1 injection per cylinder, 21180 rpm – 4 cylinders – 1 injection per cylinder)
INJECTORS MANAGEMENT
The injectors command tension is dynamically tuneable to adapt to the needs of the injectors to drive. It ranges from 95 volts to 180 volts.
This tension is managed by a map function of the fuel pressure (rail pressure) received by CAN-BUS from the external engine management ECU, or by a programmable fixed value if the rail pressure is not received from the CAN-BUS.
Injectors control
• Measure of the command tension and resting tension in real time, injector by injector
• Controlling of the command tension of injectors by looping, following a real time received target
• Control of the injectors operation errors:
– disconnected
– short circuit, causes a stop of the injector then a test every second up to short circuit ends
– closing error, causes a definitive stop of the injector to protect the engine
RAIL PRESSURE CONTROL
A map in the driver allows to program the injectors command tension between 95 and 180 volts in function of the rail pressure. this value can be obtained in two ways:
• by receiving from the CAN-BUS a rail pressure information. This real time information allows to calculate the instant command tension. The driver allows to define the identifier, the maximum period and the data position of the frame to receive, and a replacement value in case of reception error.
• without using the rail pressure information from the CAN-BUS. The rail pressure is so fixed to 0 in the driver. This 0 value is then used as a fixed input of the map to calculate the command tension.
DIAGNOSTIC WITH CAN-BUS
The driver owns a diagniostic function that is sent by CAN-BUS within a frame with identifier and periodicity configurable. This frame can be received and recorded by a data recording system and contents:
• the operation status of each injector
• the state and tension level of the internal high tension
• the actual command tension of each injector in volt
