RPH02 (PEAK&HOLD COMMAND RELAY)
2-channel driver with Peak&Hold control, for solenoid valve (or any other low impedance devices). The Peak&Hold command is completely configurable to adapt to the needs of the devices to be controlled.
The RPH02 relay has 2 Peak and Hold control channels.
It is to be used to control low impedance devices, such as solenoid valves whose impedance is less than 5 Ohms, which would not support a simple On-Off command (also called saturated command) because the control current would be too high. and would destroy these devices and/or the devices which control them (for example the auxiliary control outputs of an engine management ECU).
Each of the two RPH relay channels can be configured differently from the other channel.
GENERAL OPERATION
Relay RPH02 performs Peak and Hold commands. They are used to control low impedance devices, such as solenoid valves whose impedance is less than 5 Ohms, which would not support a simple On-Off command (also called saturated commands) because the current is too high and would destroy these devices or the devices that control them (for example the auxiliary control outputs of an engine management ECU).
CHARACTERISTICS
• 2 separately adjustable Peak and Hold command channels
• Ground control inputs, 1 KOhm 12 Volt after key pull-up resistor integrated in the relay
• Response time: 2 µs
• Peak current adjustable from 1 to 16 Amps in steps of 1 Ampere
• Peak duration from 10 microseconds to 5000 microseconds
• Hold current adjustable from 1 to 16 Amperes in steps of 1 Ampere
• Two selectable Peak control types:
– The driver switches to Hold as soon as the Peak current is reached. The Peak time is the maximum duration before the command switches to Hold, in case the desired current is not reached
– The driver controls the current for the entire duration of Peak then switches to Hold
PEAK AND HOLD MANAGEMENT
The command is composed of two parts, during which the voltage is supplied by the engine 12 volts battery supply with current control by switching the battery power:
The Peak delivers a strong current for a few hundred microseconds. This peak is a necessary part for a very fast opening of the solenoid valve. Two peak command types are allowed:
1) The relay controls the current during all the Peak time then switches to the Hold.
2) The relay switches to the Hold as soon as the Peak current is reached. The Peak time is the maximum duration before the driver switches to Hold, in the case where the desired current is not reached (for example if the battery tension is too low).
The Hold maintains the opening of the solenoid valve without damaging it by an excessive rise of its coil temperature (lower level of current).

CONNECTION KIT
The connection kit must be purchased separately.
It is essential to be able to connect your PC to the RPH02 Relay to make its settings.
The USB-FTDI interface is the same as for the Challenger and Meteor ECUs.
